Dear Artists:

Attached please find the Prospectus for the JFAA Annual Show. After a year hiatus, while The Arts Center was under construction, we are finally able to host the show again.

Please share this form with others and feel free to print and distribute the flyer to you local gallery or museum. If you are a faculty member please share it with your students. Your help getting the word out about the show would be most appreciated. This is an exciting year to participate with an opportunity for your work to be installed in the brand new Arts Center Gallery.

Deadline for the Registration forms is June 15, 2012.

“Faces of the Oil Patch” Memorial Union Gallery

‘Faces of the Oil Patch’, an exhibition of 94 photos by Wayne Gudmundson, is now showing in the Memorial Union Gallery. Gudmundson, a Fargo native and accomplished photographer, has captured moments of life in the oil patch of western North Dakota. The photos are presented in groupings: Landscapes, Ranchers, Rig Workers, Wives, Bakken Central/Trucks, Assorted Workers, Reservation, Road Conditions, Law Enforcement, Housing, Realtors, Help Wanted. Each grouping is accompanied by a quote.

The reception is May 10, Thursday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Union Gallery. The artist will speak at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy refreshments at the reception – a mini North Dakota picnic!

Following the reception in the Gallery everyone is welcome to the premiere of the Prairie Public documentary, ‘Faces of the Oil Patch’ in the Memorial Union Century Theater.

The evening is free of charge. C’mon in!

‘Faces of the Oil Patch’ will be in the Memorial Union Gallery through June 7, 2012.

Summer hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Memorial Union is closed this Saturday, May 12, for NDSU’s graduation ceremony.

NOTE: In honor of graduation and Mother’s Day, all merchandise in the Gallery Store will be reduced by 20% on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11, 2012 only.

FMVA Art Social! Monday the 7th. 7pm at Ushers

Monday, May 7th come to the lower level of Ushers and if you’d like please bring 1-2 works of art that you would like others to critique. Artists will critique/talk about each others’ work. If you don’t have a work, you can still participate and see what others are working on. Appetizers will be served. You can purchase the beverage of your choice. It is another night to talk about art. Food! Beverage! and Art! – Can’t get any better than this!

The Berm Project

During the week of May 7th to 11th, citizens of Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN will clean out their houses and put the unwanted items on the curb (or berm). Other residents cruise around town to sift through the piles and collect items to bring back to their own homes. It is a quiet, wonderful exchange of property without the exchange of money.

Our project will take this one step further by first transforming the discarded items into unique pieces.

On June 23th, participating artists along with several musicians, will hold a yard sale to share the pieces they created. The artists decide if they want to sell, trade or freely share the work.

Join us for music, art and a celebration of creative exchange.

Individual Artist Grants!
