6x6x2011: Global is the fourth exhibition of thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU. Each artwork will be 6×6 square inches and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. All artworks will be for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo). Artist names will be revealed to the buyer only upon purchase and all works will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

North Dakota Council on the Arts Awards $571,498 in Grants Across the State

The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) has completed its spring grant round for Fiscal Year 2011. $571,498.39 was awarded in six different grant programs: Artist in Residence, Community Arts Access, Institutional Support, Presenter Support, Teacher Incentive and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship. All applications were evaluated by grant review panels and all awards were subject to approval by the NDCA’s Board of Directors.

The public is invited to attend in person or to watch a live webcast at arts.gov.
Among the highlights on the agenda will be the announcement of the recipients of the NEA’s three honorific programs; NEA Jazz Master Fellowships, NEA National Heritage Fellowships, and the NEA Opera Honors. Eighteen artists will receive a total of $450,000 in recognition of their significant contributions to their respective fields.
A second feature of the meeting will be the presentation from NEA Director of Research and Analysis Sunil Iyengar of a new report from the NEA’s Office of Research and Analysis, Audience 2.0: How Technology Influences Arts Participation. The report uses data from the NEA’sSurvey of Public Participation in the Arts to explore how technology and electronic media influence arts participation.
Finally, Kathy Roth-Douquet, founder and president of Blue Star Families, will provide an overview of the Blue Star Museums program, a partnership with the NEA to provide free admission for military families to more than 750 museums across the United States this summer.WHO: NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman

Every three years the North Dakota Council on the Arts updates its strategic plan. We need to hear from the North Dakota arts community in order to assure our next plan moves the arts in the right direction.

You can help by sharing your opinions in a simple online survey that should take no more than ten minutes to complete. Please take the survey ONE TIME only! Simply click the following link:
