The meeting is open to all but only current, paid members are allowed to participate in voting. Membership Dues are $20 for regular members, $10 for students. We’ll take membership signups and renewals PRIOR to the meeting online at fargostuff.com – so don’t forget!

Enjoy coffee and baked goods while we present our Member of the Year award, nominate and elect 5 new board members and discuss what the FMVA has accomplished in the last year and what’s planned for next. If you wanna know, you gotta show!

All CURRENT MEMBERS will be eligible to vote on a proposed BY-LAW CHANGE
allowing a President’s term to continue beyond the current 4-year Board
Member term (of which most Presidents have only served one to two years in
the role of President), and “at the pleasure of the Board.” This would
allow Presidents to have a longer period of time to develop and oversee
growth and change in the organization, and allow for a more unified and
smooth transition between the Board and FMVA leadership. The Board, on the
other hand, would serve a checks-and-balances function, having the duty,
prior to each annual meeting, to vote to keep the current President or to
replace him/her at the next Board Meeting.

Additionally, current members will be asked to nominate current FMVA
members for the Board, and will be eligible to vote on those positions.
This year, the membership will be voting to fill 4 Board slots.

A status/activity report on the organization as a whole, as well as
committee reports will be given, and recent work on the strategic plan
will be discussed. The meeting will begin with a brief social period,
during which members will be treated to donuts and coffee from Atomic
Coffee.

Those interested are encouraged to renew their membership if their
membership renewal date is drawing near, or purchase a first-time
membership through fargostuff.com (under the TICKETS link).

NDSU Downtown, Renaissance Hall Lecture room

We’ll have coffee and other refreshments, and all members are highly encouraged to come and participate in the discussions and voting that will help steer the organization for the next year. An agenda will go out closer to the meeting date, and will include a quick overview of the new website. There are a lot of exciting opportunities for our members in the coming year!

Board Seats Open

There are 5 seats on the Board of Directors open. Please consider serving on the Board!

Membership Chair and PR Person Needed

We also are in need of a Membership Committee Chair and a PR person. They do not need to be board members.

Val Halvorson was our membership person and has done a tremendous job of getting us organized and closer to an accurate system to keep track of members. She has stepped down…Thanks Val for all that you did!

Sandi Dahl was our former PR person and thank you to Sandi for all the time and effort she put in for us!

Important By-Laws Changes Vote

We will be voting on some changes to the by-laws. The main one will be to change the annual memberships to be based on when you join/renew/pay rather than going from annual meeting (Oct) to annual meeting (the following Oct). Now that we have a way to track and sort memberships and the dates they joined, we believe that this will be a better way to serve our membership.

Pay Your Dues Online BEFORE the Meeting

You MUST be a PAID member to Vote at the Annual Meeting, therefore we are asking that you PLEASE go to the Fargostuff.com website and renew your membership PRIOR to the meeting (NOW would be a very good time, in fact).

If you renew your membership AFTER Oct 9th, please print your receipt and bring it to the meeting.

For those of our members who have always paid at the annual meeting…

We are NOT accepting checks anymore. It requires too much paperwork and time to deal with paper. PLEASE renew online BEFORE the meeting.

For those who don’t have computer access or need assistance…

We will have a computer set up prior the meeting to help you renew online. Please come early and bring a credit card with you.

Note that if you renew online PRIOR to the meeting, you will not have to wait in line, and your renewal will add a year to the original date that you paid/joined.
