Intensive Acrylic Workshop (3 days)
There is so much to know about and do with acrylic materials that I decided to offer one 3 day workshop day where we really dig deep into a variety of acrylic materials and see what you can do with them. Start with learning the difference between the Heavy Body paints, the Fluid acrylics and the new and amazing OPEN paint. Who ever thought acrylics would stay wet for a few hours so one could actually blend the paint and keep moving it around until you achieve what you want? Take time to look at the difference between the matte and gloss gels and how they affect color. Speaking of color…let’s touch on clean color mixing and which pigments to use for the cleanest mixtures. Explore some Interference and Iridescent mixtures and learn how Zinc and Titanium White mixtures differ.

You will have an opportunity to work with a variety of grounds, some absorbent, like Coarse Molding Paste and some sealed, such as Molding Paste, and see how the paint and drawing materials respond to different grounds. Apply multiple layers of paint and gels and watch your images take on a life of their own. Information about the acrylic materials available for your use will be presented throughout the workshop.

After this 3 day event you will have information that will help you jump start some new paintings or get going on the ones you have been stuck on.

Open to all levels of painting experience. All paints, gels and mediums provided.

Bring to class:
Favorite synthetic paintbrushes, palette knives, paper palettes (or glass you can reuse), a water container, rags, images to work from..photos or your drawings, a few small canvases or canvas boards (no larger than 11″ x 14″), and if you like, a few small acrylic paintings you may want to explore mixed media on.

Please: Do not bring pets or wear perfumed products that may disrupt those with allergies.
